Illegal Marijuana Grow Dismantled In Lake Elsinore

The grow in the 4000 block of Portia Street was raided by deputies based on community complaints.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — An illegal marijuana grow set up inside a Lake Elsinore home has been taken down and one man arrested, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The grow in the 4000 block of Portia Street was raided by deputies around 9 a.m. Friday based on community complaints, the sheriff's department reported.

Approximately 900 marijuana plants were seized and deputies discovered the home had been illegally wired. "The entire residence was transformed using common building materials into a marijuana cultivation site," according the sheriff's department.

Yinger Wang, 55, of Hayward was arrested at the scene on suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation, the sheriff's department said.

Lake Elsinore Code Enforcement/Building and Safety deemed the home uninhabitable, and Southern California Edison turned power off to the home due to fire risk posed by the illegal wiring, according to the sheriff's department.
