LEUSD 2020-21 School Reopening Statement

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and safety of our students, staff, and families, today the Lake Elsinore Unified School District is announcing our intention to re-open instruction on August 12th in a full distance learning format.

This plan of action has not been reached lightly. All possible options for opening our schools in a safe manner have been thoroughly considered. The only safe option at this time is a temporary full distance learning option. When it is safe to move into a hybrid model or full traditional instruction during the 2020-21 school year, that is our intent.

We are sharing this advisory now, to give our families more time to make the necessary plans for their students to begin the school year online.

We will also use this time to work with our teachers and staff to ensure that in the Phase One-Distance Learning model, all students shall receive instruction and content five days a week in a 100% virtual format. All content and instruction shall be mandatory, graded, and aligned to grade-level standards. Support for English learners, students with disabilities, foster students, and homeless youth shall be provided.

The COVID-19 pandemic cannot be taken lightly. We continue to refine our three-phase plan for instruction during the 2020-2021 school year. These three phases are as follows: Phase One, full distance learning; Phase Two, hybrid model; and Phase Three, full traditional, which is our goal as soon as can be safely achieved.

Our school district and Board of Trustees are committed to continually monitoring the COVID-19 situation, and to reevaluating the public health data related to this phased reopening plan.

It continues to be our goal to return to full traditional instruction as soon as it is safe for our students, staff, and families to do so. We will update the community with additional details as we approach the 2020-21 school year.

Debido a una gran cantidad de precaución y preocupación por la salud y seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, personal y familias, hoy el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Lake Elsinore anuncia nuestra intención de reabrir la instrucción el 12 de agosto en un formato de aprendizaje a distancia completo.

Este plan de acción no se ha alcanzado a la ligera. Todas las opciones posibles para abrir nuestras escuelas de manera segura se han considerado a fondo. La única opción segura en este momento es una opción de aprendizaje a distancia completa temporal. Cuando es seguro pasar a un modelo híbrido o una instrucción tradicional completa durante el año escolar 2020-21, esa es nuestra intención.

Estamos compartiendo este aviso ahora, para darles a nuestras familias más tiempo para hacer los planes necesarios para que sus estudiantes comiencen el año escolar en línea.
