Children held and petted turtles, tootsies, millipedes, lizards, alligators and snakes under the watchful eye of John Minko, also known as the "Lizard Wizard."
Kids got a chance to touch the scales of a Burmese python, tap the shell of an African desert tortoise and tickle the feet of a millipede during the “Edu-tainment in Nature” event at the Lake Elsinore Outlets Friday.
Children held and petted turtles, tootsies, millipedes, lizards, alligators and snakes under the watchful eye of John Minko, also known as the "Lizard Wizard.”
He brought the animals to the mall to give kids “a safe, nurturing, hands- on journey into the fascinating world of reptiles, amphibians and more,” he said.

The event was part of the “Kids Outlet,” in which a free children’s activity is planned every Wednesday and Friday. The events are geared toward kids under 12.
As part of his Edu-tainment in Nature program, Minko brings his unique presentations to birthday parties, area schools like Donald Graham Elementary in Wildomar, and has even gone as far as Pismo Beach.

Parent Sean Robledo loves the idea of making science fun for kids and said, “It’s especially important in this area.”
“It’s good for us too,” said Lake Elsinore Outlets Marketing Director Christina Riojas. “The parents immediately go shopping after (the events)!”
Parker Hunter did not care about any of that though – the youngster was too busy interacting with one of his favorite creatures: an alligator.
