Man Found Dead in RivCo Home, Autopsy Pending
Officers entered the home and discovered the man's body was "in an advanced state of decomposition," police said.
MENIFEE, CA — A 57-year-old man found dead in his Menifee home, where his body had laid for weeks, does not appear to have been the victim of foul play, the Menifee Police Department said Thursday.
Derrick Osbey's remains were located at the residence in the 21900 block of Moraga Street, near Trailhead Drive, on Saturday evening, according to the agency.
Spokesman Chase Coburn said a neighbor went to check on Osbey and triggered a burglar alarm, to which patrol officers responded.

After the neighbor, whose identity was not disclosed, explained that he was concerned about the victim's welfare, officers entered the premises and discovered the homeowner's body was "in an advanced state of decomposition," Coburn said.
"Due to the condition in which Osbey was found, a cause of death was unable to be determined," he said.

The remains were turned over to the Riverside County Coroner's Office for an autopsy, but investigators at this point do not believe there's any reason for suspicion, and "there's no threat to the public," the police spokesman said.
