Crews quickly contained the fire and discovered six kittens on the property, traumatized but apparently uninjured.

The litter was turned over to Corona Animal Control and will be examined by veterinarians, a city official told City News Service.

She did not know when the kittens would be available for adoption. The whereabouts of the mother cat were unknown.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
