Muggy Conditions, Mountain Thunderstorms Forecast For Riverside County

RIVERSIDE, CA — Monsoonal moisture was forecast to return to Riverside County Sunday and could stick around for the rest of the week, brining the possibility of thunderstorms in the mountains and the desert slopes each afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

The influx of monsoonal moisture was predicted to bring increased cloud coverage and lower-than-average temperatures, though conditions could feel muggy than usual, according to the NWS.

Sunday's high temperatures were forecast to be 106 degrees in Palm Springs, 104 degrees in Thermal, 97 degrees on Hemet, 97 degrees in Lake Elsinore and 93 degrees in Riverside, the NWS said.

Forecasters said flash flooding could become a concern on Monday and Tuesday in areas expected to be hit with thunderstorms.

The NWS warned the public that possible hazards in those areas could include hail, thunder and flooded roadways.
