Plans to refurbish the Lake Elsinore Outlets are moving ahead. In March, it was announced the Outlets’ property management company had hired an architect to update the 1990s center, and on Tuesday the Lake Elsinore Planning Commission will make some decisions that impact the improvement project.

The multimillion dollar mall refurbishments call for super-sized graphics to be hung at the Outlets, along the 15 Freeway, to attract visitors. Additionally, shade areas for lounging and "hanging out" would be installed at the center, landscaping and water sculptures would be implemented, and portions of the aging mall are being demolished to create more inviting entrances.

In order to move forward, the city must first amend the Lake Elsinore Outlets Specific Plan and the city must adopt a “uniform” sign program for the Outlets.

Athena Property Management currently manages the mall and was tapped by Lake Elsinore Outlets owner Mohr Affinity LLC to come up with a design concept.
