Palm Springs Tram Accepting Snowfall Guesses Starting Wednesday

Predictions should be written on a postcard and mailed.

Starting tomorrow, people can begin predicting when the first inch of snow will fall on Mount San Jacinto as part of an annual contest put on by the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

The first 10 people who correctly predict the first snowfall -- it has to be at least an inch at the tram’s 8,516-foot mountain station -- will win four tram admissions and a picture frame, tram spokesman Greg Purdy said.
If there are more than 10 winning guesses, ”the earliest postmarks will prevail,’’ he said.

The contest will continue until the first inch of snow falls.
