Pedestrian, 16, Injured In Hit-And-Run; Teen ID'd As Driver

The victim was walking near a Lake Elsinore high school when struck by a car driven by another 16-year-old, deputies said.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A 16-year-old pedestrian was struck and injured in a hit-and-run Wednesday morning near Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore, and another teen, also 16, was identified as the alleged driver of the vehicle, according to authorities.

Deputies said the teen was in a crosswalk shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Riverside Drive and Stadium Way when hit by a black Nissan Sentra, that was making a left turn from Stadium onto Riverside, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

After interviewing witnesses and the victim, along with viewing video footage from various sources, deputies identified the alleged driver as a 16-year-old male, the department said.

Deputies said the case will be forwarded to the Riverside County Juvenile Probation Office for possible criminal charges to be filed against the driver.

No information was released on the extent of the pedestrian's injuries.
