Pedestrian Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Lakeland Village

The victim was found lifeless around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday on Grand Avenue, just south of Turner Street.

LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA — A hit-and-run crash in Lakeland Village early Tuesday morning left a 65-year-old Lake Elsinore pedestrian dead, but the driver was eventually tracked down at a nearby home, the California Highway Patrol announced.

The victim, who has not been identified, was found lifeless around 12:15 a.m. on Grand Avenue, just south of Turner Street, the CHP reported. When CHP officers arrived on scene, he was pronounced dead.

An investigation led to a nearby address on Adelfa Street where Arturo Swadener, 66, lived. He was questioned by officers and confessed to hitting the man with his 2004 Nissan Titan truck, which was parked in front of the home, according to the CHP.

Swadener was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and was cooperating with officers, according to the CHP. He was not injured in the crash.

Jail records were not yet unavailable.
