Police Chase In Elsinore Ends With Teen's Arrest

Sheriff's officials say a female juvenile was briefly detained in the incident as well.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A girl and 19-year-old man were caught driving a stolen vehicle through Lake Elsinore this week, the sheriff's department reports. The man, who was ultimately arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, is already on probation for vehicle theft, according to officials.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Highway 74 and Cambern Avenue, according to sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Reese. Local officers spotted a stolen 2013 Chevrolet Sonic in the area and attempted pull the driver over. However, he "fled at a high rate of speed" instead.

The driver, later identified as George Michael Marques of Arizona, turned onto a dead-end street about a quarter-mile away from where the chase started, according to Reese. That's when the man and the girl allegedly took off running.
