Police Have Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of Teen In Wildomar

The 16-year-old boy died Monday after he was shot near the Lake Elsinore Airstrip, authorities said.

WILDOMAR, CA — Days after a 16-year-old boy was fatally gunned down in Wildomar, authorities said they have identified the shooter. However, officials have not announced an arrest nor released the name of their suspect.

"All parties have been identified and there are no suspects outstanding," Sergeant Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department public information officer said in an email to Patch. "Due their ages and the fact the investigation is still ongoing, no additional information is available at this time."

The fatal shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Corydon Road and Melinda Lane, less than a block from the Lake Elsinore Airstrip, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said the teen, whose identity has not been released, was attacked for unknown reasons and then taken by a group of unidentified people to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center, where he later died.

Following the shooting, authorities said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
