See Smoke in Lake Elsinore Today? Officials Say Don't Be Alarmed
U.S. Forest Service officials say it's part of a planned operation nearby.
TEMECULA, CA - Temecula Valley residents Monday were advised not to be alarmed if they see smoke in the higher elevations of the Cleveland National Forest, where crews are burning off excess vegetation.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, slash piles and overgrown foliage are being eliminated in preparation for the summer fire season.
Prescribed burns are taking place throughout the Fry Creek Campground, in the vicinity of Palomar Mountain, in San Diego County, forest rangers said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, motorists heading south on Interstate 15 have already reported smoke this morning, but authorities emphasized that there’s no reason for alarm.
The campground is currently closed due to the controlled burns.

The Forest Service initiated burn-off operations last week and will continue this week, provided the weather cooperates.
