SIG Alert: I-15 Fatal Rollover Crash Slows Lake Elsinore Traffic

California Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash at I-15 and Nichols Road, just north of Nichols Road, amid Monday's storm.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA —A vehicle traveling northbound on I-15, near Nichols Road, rolled over into the center divider in a fatal single-car crash, blocking the far left passing lane, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department confirmed with Patch.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the fast lane was closed for several hours during the investigation.

Just after 9:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers and emergency responders were called to the area of I-15 northbound just north of Nichols Road, where the rollover crash occurred. There, a black pickup truck was overturned onto its roof.

"One occupant was declared deceased at the scene," Cal Fire spokesperson Maggie De La Rosa told Patch. Firefighters cleared the scene as of 10:30 a.m.

CHP officers remained, waiting for the coroner's office to arrive. As of 11 a.m., traffic through the area remained heavy during the lane closure.
