A man looking to buy a car was instead robbed and shot in the stomach, according to sheriff's detectives.

PERRIS, CA — Authorities Sunday are searching for the suspects who shot a man during an attempted robbery in the unincorporated community of Good Hope.

Deputies responded to a shooting call about 5:15 p.m. Saturday in the 24000 block of state Route 74 but found out en route that the two vehicles involved had left the area, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Glenn Warrington.

Deputies intercepted one of the vehicles in Perris and found it contained a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen, who was subsequently taken to a hospital.
