Two Arrested for Downtown Riverside, Freeway Pursuit

The pursuit began after police tried to make a traffic stop but the driver sped away from officers "at speeds reaching over 100 mph."

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - Police Monday released the names of two probationers arrested after a high-speed pursuit through downtown Riverside and the 60 Freeway.

Edwin Ramos, 29, of Jurupa Valley and Martin Garcia, 28, of Riverside, were booked on suspicion of felony evading, plus parole and probation violations, following the Saturday night pursuit.

The pursuit began after police tried to make a traffic stop at 11:24 p.m. near University Avenue and Lime Street, but the driver -- later identified as Ramos -- sped away from officers "at speeds reaching over 100 mph."
