Victim Chases Hit-And-Run Suspect On I-15, Suspect Crashes: CHP

CHP logs indicated that a driver fled northbound on the 15 after first hitting someone near Elsinore.

CORONA, CA — A hit-and-run suspect being tailed by a victim on Interstate 15 crashed into at least one other vehicle while trying to get away Sunday, causing injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The first crash occurred at about 2:15 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near Lake Street in Lake Elsinore when the suspect, driving a Honda Pilot, attempted to cut off a vehicle, according to the CHP.

The victim then chased the suspect north on the freeway until the suspect hit another vehicle and kept driving, using the right-hand shoulder to bypass traffic, the CHP said.

Officers caught up to the suspect, who was nearing Corona and at one point drove the wrong way on a Temescal Canyon Road onramp, according to a CHP incident report.

The CHP reported that several vehicles had been totaled and that there was at least one injury.

A Sigalert was issued and the number one lane on Interstate 15 near Temescal Canyon Road was shut down.

It was unclear if the suspect was arrested.
