Woman Struck, Killed On Lake Elsinore Area Highway
The deadly crash happened on SR-74, according to the California Highway Patrol.

PERRIS, CA — A woman walking across State Route 74 was hit and killed this week near Lake Elsinore, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
The deadly crash happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday when the driver of a Honda Civic struck the woman as she crossed SR-74, just west of Hammack Avenue, according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig.
The woman, who remained unidentified as of Tuesday, stepped directly in front of the Civic driver’s path and the driver was “unable to avoid [her],” according to CHP reports.

The driver immediately stopped and called 911 for help, and emergency officials could not revive her, according to Lassig. She died on the roadway.
“CHP Temecula Area is conducting the traffic collision investigation,” Lassig wrote. “If anyone has further information, please contact the CHP at 951-506-2000.”

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the woman, Lassig said.
