Council to Award $73K Graffiti Removal Contract

The San Juan Capistrano-based company that currently removes graffiti in Lake Forest is offering the city 37 percent less than its current contract to sign another.

The company that cleans graffiti off of Lake Forest walls, playgrounds and buildings has earned a staff recommendation for another year's contract, with two potential one-year extensions.

Bonanza Steam Cleaning, of San Juan Capistrano, dropped its prices 37 percent for the bidding process from its current of contract of $115,560 to get the nod over its sole competitor, Superior Property Services.

The company has "performed well" during its tenure as a city contractor, wrote city staffers in a report to the council.

Bonanza's bid of approximately $73,000 undercut Superior—which bid $119,175—by more than $46,000.

The low bid and Bonanza's history with the city means that the City Council is likely to approve another contract with the company at the council's Tuesday evening meeting.

The contract is on the city's consent calendar for the meeting—a list of items typically approved in one fell swoop without discussion.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at , 25550 Commercentre Drive.
