Active Shooter Preparation
Seminar teaches residents how to deal with active shooter situation

Soroptimists of Saddleback Valley (SISV) filled the Lake 1 Board Room to overflowing with people who came to learn about being prepared for an active shooter incident. OCSD provided excellent instructors with SWAT Office Shane Millhollon and Psychologist Heather Williams. The main thrust of their comments was that people need to be aware of their environment just in case they find themselves in danger. They advanced the ideas of RUN, HIDE, and FIGHT as the sequential strategies to be used.
More than 60 people crammed into the Board room for more than 2 hours listening attentively.
Councilwoman Leah Basile was the only Council member in attendance. Also present was Parks Commissioner Loretta Herrin and Vector Control Rep Bob Holtzclaw. The program was organized by SISV Board member Anne Breuer.
