“The Republican Party of Orange County has requested the resignation of Lake Forest City Council member Adam Nick, saying he fraudulently called himself a certified public accountant on a SmartVoter website until August 2015.”
Fred Whitaker, chairman of the OC Republican Party, recently issued a press release asking for Nick’s resignation, because Nick lied to Lake Forest voters “by saying he was a CPA despite not being issued a license.”

Even the reporter sees that candidates supply information to SmartVoter.org: “The base of Whitaker’s claim is Nick’s profile for his 2012 campaign for Lake Forest City Council on a candidate website called SmartVoter.org, where candidates supply information to be posted in a candidate profile during the campaign.”
“An archived version of Nick’s profile shows ‘Accountant/CPA’ under the category Biographical Highlights. The current profile shows a remark on the bottom of the page that says it was modified at the request of the candidate, Aug. 28, 2015.”
“’I’ve used that for my own campaigns in the past,’ Whitaker said in an email. ‘No one edits it but the candidate. He created it, he left it for everyone to be misled, he got caught, he took it down.’”
“The California Board of Accountancy sent Nick a letter, addressed to City Hall on July 14, 2015, informing him that it had no record of issuing a license.”
“The notice where Nick had asked for the modification on the SmartVoter profile page was dated more than a month later.” Coincidence? I don't think so. He changed the website a month after receiving the "cease and desist" letter.
Adam Nick is now getting the press that he deserves.
SUPERVISOR’S OFFICE BACKS ROBINSON OVER DESPICABLE NICK AND GARDNER
Our County Supervisor, Lisa Bartlett, and county Auditor-Controller Eric Woolery both side with Robinson on whether Robinson was honest in his candidate statement. This section of the OC Register article shows how dishonest and political Nick and Gardner will go to win this election. Despicable Nick and Gardner even tried to censure Robison, after knowing that Supervisor Bartlett and Erick Woolery supported Robinson:
“Dwight Robinson, the second incumbent hoping to retain his seat in the 2016 election, has seen his candidate statement challenged by residents and fellow council member Nick in recent weeks because of two lines in which Robinson said he’ll partner with two Orange County supervisors to end a Mello-Roos district in Foothill Ranch ‘just like we’ve done in Portola Hills.’”
“In an Oct. 12 email, Supervisor Lisa Bartlett’s office said Robinson’s statement is not misleading to voters. The email said Robinson, Mayor Andrew Hamilton and Mayor Pro Tem Scott Voigts had all been reaching out via phone or email to discuss Mello Roos.”
“Their advocacy on behalf of (Portola Hills) residents dates back to February 2015,” wrote Supervisor Bartlett. “Similarly, residents from the (Portola Hills) community who have worked with Supervisor Bartlett could credibly assert they worked to eliminate Mello Roos districts as well.”
“At the Oct. 4 City Council meeting, a proposal by Nick to discuss censuring Robinson at a future meeting died by a 3-2 vote, with Robinson, Voigts and Hamilton opposed.”
“I’ve chosen to foster a relationship with (the supervisors) because at time, the residents of this city needed us to talk to those above us,” Robinson said at the failed agenda item on October 4. “Did I have sole decision authority? Clearly not. That was a Board of Supervisors decision that was made.”
Finally, the Orange County Register states “Foothill Ranch’s debt is projected to be paid in full in August 2019. Once the debt is redeemed, supervisors could vote to dissolve the Community Facilities District or re-task it to provide additional capital projects and services for the district, county Auditor-Controller Eric Woolery said.”
