Fire Damages Kitchen in Laguna Woods

An electrical fire destroyed the kitchen in an upstairs unit at a two-story residential building in Laguna Woods.
The fire was reported at 8:27 p.m. Saturday in the 3300 block of Monte Hermoso and was extinguished about 20 minutes later, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The effort took the work of 20 firefighters, he said.
No injuries were reported. One resident was displaced, Concialdi said.

The cause was found to be accidental and electrical in nature, he said.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $200,000 and damage to the contents was $75,000, Concialdi said. The kitchen was destroyed and there was smoke damage throughout the unit, he said.
