Get Ready for CANDIDATE FORUM Next Week

CITY WATCH urges you to get ready for Candidate Forum next week. [OPINION]

The election is only 6 weeks away and in Lake Forest more people are running for City Council than ever before. There are 3 positions open and 8 challengers. That seems to indicate that people are not happy with the way things are going. In neighboring Laguna Hills, they had to cancel their election because only the incumbents chose to run.

Two incumbents (Voigts and McCullough) are running again, and the person appointed to fill Peter Herzog’s seat (Bass) has decided that he wants to run after all. They are joined by Voigts’ appointee to the Planning Commission (Hamilton). Against these 4 “insiders” are 4 people who have not held positions in City government (Gardner, Cagley, Miller, Healey).

Tomorrow we’ll give you details about each of the candidates. Today please set aside time for the forum. This is your city and your government, and what they do at City Hall impacts your quality of life every day.

This year’s forum has been designed by Bob Holtzclaw and Jim Richert and Jim will be the moderator. Those of you who have been here for awhile will remember than Jim did several previous forums and does a great job. Jim tells me that people will get a chance to ask questions of the candidates, so that’s reason enough to want to attend.

About Jim Gardner:

Dr. Jim Gardner is running for City Council in Lake Forest. You can check him out on LinkedIn and/or Facebook.
