Harrison Ford Allegedly Breaks FAA Rule Landing Plane On Taxiway
"Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?" Ford asked the Air Traffic Control Tower.
LAKE FOREST, CA — Harrison Ford might get his wings clipped after a run-in at John Wayne Airport on Monday.
While the FAA has not confirmed Ford's involvement, NBC News outed the 74-year-old actor as the pilot involved who landed his plane on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, an event that is currently under investigation.
According to NBC News, Ford mistakenly landed on a taxiway instead of the runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

The FAA did state that a small aircraft overflew a 737 that was holding short of the runway on Monday.
"Ford, an experienced pilot who collects vintage planes had been instructed to land on runway 20-L but mistakenly aimed for a taxiway instead," the NBC News report stated. "His plane passed over the top of an American Airlines 737 loaded with 110 passengers and a six-person crew."

Ford was informed, shortly after landing, that he had landed on the taxiway rather than the runway, a violation of Federal Aviation Administration safety rules.
"Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?" Ford said shortly after the incident, recorded by John Wayne Airport Air Traffic Control.
That 737 is reported to have taken off without incident, according to NBC News.
According to the FAA, Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon.
"The pilot correctly read back the clearance. The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating this incident, however the pilot's name was withheld," said Ian Gregor, public affairs manager for the FAA Southwest division.
The resulting FAA investigation could result in a variety of actions against the actor/pilot, from a warning letter to suspension of pilot's license.
John Wayne Airport had no comment on the incident. Patch has reached out to Ford's agent for comment.
A longtime pilot, Ford is listed among the "Living Legends of Aviation" on Wikipedia.
