How You Can Help Orange County Moms

The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest is collecting toiletry items for Beauty Bags to be distributed to Moms in need via South County Outreach

For the third year in a row, The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest is collecting donations of toiletry items such as shampoos, lotions, deodorants, body sprays and more. These items will be used to create Beauty Bags, which South County Outreach will then distribute to Moms in need for Mother’s Day.

“The gifts of personal care items for Mother’s Day make a big difference in the lives of our clients. These are women who are working hard to provide for their families and these small luxuries are usually things they do without,” said South County Outreach Executive Director Lara Fisher. “The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest and their generous clients provide gifts that allow these women to pause and take some time for themselves to renew their spirits. That is something that many people take for granted, but it is very much appreciated by the women in our programs.”

“When you look good, you feel good,” said Christine Anzell, co-owner of The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest. ”That little boost of confidence that comes when you put on your lipstick or you know you smell great can make all the difference.” All new, unopened toiletry items are welcome, including hotel shampoos, conditioners, and lotions; makeup and skin care samples, travel size toothpaste, mouthwash, and other toiletries, deodorant, nail clippers, bubble bath, bath sprays and more.

South County Outreach provides 52,000 services to more than 7,000 local people in need each year. The agency distribute 800,000 pounds of food through our food pantry to up to 3,000 people each month, providing emergency sustenance to Orange County families in crisis. The homeless-prevention programs are aimed at keeping people safely housed and off the streets by helping with rental and utility assistance. If someone does become homeless, South County Outreach housing programs provide shelter and counseling to get them back on their feet and on the road to self-sufficiency.

Fisher added, “Giving lotion, manicure kits, bath salts, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrushes, cologne and other personal items to our clients for Mother’s Day means that they are valued and that is a wonderful feeling for anyone to have.”
