Yesterday I had the extreme pleasure of hosting more than a dozen Cub Scouts and their families on a half hour tour of City Hall. My Assistant Jennifer Connally led Pack 629 on a tour of the Planning Department, the Council Office, and the Police Department. The kids had plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and they met the Mayor and the Police Chief. We paused for cookies in the Council Chambers and the kids sat at the table and prepared for the day when they would be on the Council. When the tour was over, the scouts stayed on for the City Council meeting, and the troop led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. It was a great time for everyone. Thanks to Kurt Rhodenbaugh for organizing the event.
City government is an extension of the people. This is your City Hall and your City staff. If you have a group that wants to take a look behind the curtain, please let me know and we can arrange a similar tour, or if your needs are different we can customize a tour for your needs.
