Lake Forest City Hall Reopens May 18; July 4 Parade Canceled

City Hall reopens to the public on May 18, as Governor Gavin Newsom moves toward reopening the state. The City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 19 will also be open to the public. The July 4 Lake Forest Parade, however, is canceled.

When City Hall reopens, visitors will be asked to follow safe-distancing. Staff at the Building, Planning and City Clerk counters will be separated from the public by Plexiglas shields. Decals on the floor will also indicate safe separation distances for those waiting.

At the City Council meeting, some chairs in the chambers will be closed off to ensure that observers sit 6 feet apart. If the meeting is well attended, some members of the public will be asked to wait in the gallery until a seat opens. Two monitors in the gallery will show the Council meeting. Because the public can again attend the meeting, public comments will no longer be taken by email or phone message.

The Clubhouse Senior Center, Community Center, and Sports Park & Recreation Center will remain closed.

The City regrets cancellation of the popular July 4 parade, but the public health measures taken in the wake of the pandemic prevented the volunteer committee from meeting to organize the annual event.
