A pair attempted to rob a Lake Forest convenience store but came away empty-handed.

A pair of would-be robbers went home empty-handed Tuesday after trying to hold-up a Lake Forest convenience story with an uncooperative clerk.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department got the call at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The clerk escaped out the back door where he encountered a second suspect, he added. The pair is believed to have escaped in a black Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a woman, said Hallock. Both suspects were described as men in their 20s, about 5-feet 10 inches tall” with thin builds.
