On Friday the City of Lake Forest honored our volunteers with a lunch at the Sports and Recreation Center. More than 50 volunteers showed up, along with members of the Council (Gardner, Vopigts, Hamilton, Nick), the Planning Commission (Dealmedia, Verplanke), and the Parks and Recreation Commission (Herrin, Rosenberg, Werkmeister). Volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce, the Parade Committee, and the Senior Advisory Group were also in attendance.
Shown in the picture is one of the City’s hardest working volunteers, Myron Drinkwater (aka “Drink”:)) who has served for many years on the Parade Committee, the Senior Advisory Group, and helped with the kitchen chores at the Senior Center. Myron recently underwent extensive treatment for cancer, but like the trooper he is, he is already back helping out at the Thursday Bingo events at City hall, and attending Parade Committee meetings.
