Lake Forest Neighbor Thwarts Attempted Burglary

An alert neighbor called police to stop an early morning burglary in Lake Forest Thursday.

The break-in happened at 5:57 a.m. Thursday morning on the 21000 block of Drexel Way.

“A man in a dark hoodie was seen breaking into a house through the back door, and he activated an alarm,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Steve Gil.

Deputies arrived on the scene thinking the suspect was still inside the home. They set up a perimeter, but soon discovered that the suspect fled before they arrived.

No one was home at the time of the burglary, and it’s unclear if anything was taken.
