Man Found Shot To Death On 5 Freeway In Irvine

The body was found lying next to a white Kia Optima parked on the right shoulder of the 5, just south of Culver Drive.

IRVINE, CA — A man was found fatally shot next to a parked car on the shoulder of the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway Sunday in Irvine.

The California Highway Patrol received a report about 7:30 a.m. of white Kia Optima parked on the right shoulder of the 5, just south of Culver Drive.

CHP and Irvine police responded to the scene and found the man lying next to the car. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, said OCFA Capt. Thanh Nguyen. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A motive for the shooting was unknown and authorities so far have no suspect information.
