Yesterday I attended the new opening of the SouthEast Substation serving the cities of Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, and RSM. Previously Lake Forest Sheriffs worked out of the Aliso Viejo substation that covered 10 South County cities.
Having the substation in our City means that our officers will have less travel time back and forth from Aliso Viejo and we will have reduced travel expenses. On the other hand, we now share the costs of a substation with only 2 more cities, instead of 9 more cities, so our costs are significantly higher. This increase in costs is part of the $1,000,000+ increase to the Police budget that has been proposed.
