OCFA Responds to Gas Leak on Von Karman

A small gas leak on Wednesday morning drew the Orange County Fire Authority, Southern California Gas Company Von Karman to the scene.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Firefighters are currently on the scene of a gas leak at a construction site at 16700 block of Von Karman Ave. in Irvine. Firefighters were notified at just after 8:30 a.m. regarding the leak.

Company repairing a sewer line, and cut a 2" gas line according to OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz said. "The line is now capped," he said. "Orange County Fire Authority was on scene as precaution."

No evacuations or injuries have been reported as of yet, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said. Traffic is not affected.

According to officials, a small gas line was damaged causing a minor leak, Sergio Jimenez, spokesperson for Southern California Gas Company said.

"Workers are advised to dial 811 two days before a job so Gas Co. workers can come to the site and mark where all the gas lines are located to avoid accidents," Jimenez said.
