MODJESKA PLAYHOUSE – “GODS OF CARNAGE” –

Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, the hilarious God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza, finds two sets of Brooklyn parents meeting to resolve the matter of a playground altercation between their eleven-year-old boys. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. OCT 1 - BREAST CANCER SOLUTIONS FUND RAISER AT JEWELRY BOX

The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest is hosting the 6th annual fabulous in-store event in support of Breast Cancer Solutions! Join us for an evening of delicious food, 15% off all purchases (excluding clearance items) and a chance to win a beautiful diamond! BCS will receive 10% of all purchases plus 100% of proceeds from the sale of breast cancer awareness watches.

PS – The Jewelry box is located next to Bagels and Brew in the Ralph’s shopping center on Lake Forest Drive. They were just voted The Best of OC by the readers of the OC Register. Come by and say hello.



OCT 6 - GRAND OPENING – TUTOR DOCTOR

This is a grand opening celebration for Tutor Doctor on Tuesday, October 6 at 10 a.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at South County Outreach and will feature refreshments and a South County Outreach fundraiser. South County Outreach is located at 7 Whatney, Suite B, Irvine, CA



OCT 10 – HERITAGE HILL HAUNT

This is the 8th annual Heritage Hill Haunt and it’s a great treat for everyone, especially kids. 4 to 9 pm. Games, Princesses, Face Painting Trick or Treat Stations, Story Tellers, etc. For more info call 949 273 6960



OCT 14 - LIVE, WORK, PLAY

In 250 words or less, tell us how you live, work, and play in Lake Forest, submit up to 5 pictures along with the article, and you can be featured in the City’s newsletter (the Leaflet). Deadline is Oct 14. Send to chon@lakeforest.gov



OCT 23 – SPECIAL NEEDS DANCE

This is our quarterly Special Needs Dance at the City Hall and it starts at 7 pm. This time the theme is Halloween. Join us for a great time. Register through Community Services of call 949 461 3447



OCT 24 – HALLOWFEST

“Hallowfest” is a combination of October fest and Halloween. So you can eat and drink and then get scared to death. Sponsored by the Woman’s Club at Lake 2.



OCT 27 - TRAFFIC ADVISORY GROUP

The topic for tonight’s meeting will be the modifications to Saddleback ranch Rd. At the City hall at 7 pm.



OCT 29- BUSINESS EXPO & MIXER

The Chamber of Commerce will host Lake Forest businesses at the Beach and Tennis Club from 5:30 to 7:30. Co-hosted by Soroptimists International, contact Diane@ImagesByDwayne.com



NOV 1 - SHOP AND DINE LAKE FOREST

The 5th Annual Shop & Dine Lake Forest Week is November 1-8! The Coupon Submittal Form is now live and you can submit your special offer to be featured in the Shop & Dine Week Coupon Booklet, mailed to approximately 30,000 Lake Forest addresses.



NOV 7 - TOUR DEL TORO

Community volunteers organize an annual Tour del Toro event to raise funds to support Boys and Girls Club programs in Lake Forest. Tour del Toro 2015 is slated to feature a fun run, bicycle ride, vendor booths, and a “bicycle rodeo” for children provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. For more info, click here.



NOV 8 - TASTE OF LAKE FOREST

This year the 4th annual Taste of Lake Forest will take place on Sunday, November 8 from 12 to 4 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for Lake Forest restaurants to promote their unique cuisine to the local and surrounding communities. Last year more than 2,000 people came by and voted for their favorite restaurant.



ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Jim Gardner is on the City Council for Lake Forest. You can check him out on LinkedIn and/or Facebook and you can share your thoughts about the City at Lake Forest Town Square on Facebook. His comments are not meant to reflect official City Policy.

Dr. Gardner has office hours every Tuesday from 4 pm to 6 pm at the City Hall. In addition, he holds a town hall meeting every quarter. The next meeting will be on December 12 at 2 pm at the El Toro Public Library.
