Update: Packed Church Bus Involved in Lake Forest Crash

Dozens of middle school students were leaving for a church outing.

Update: The bus was going less than 10 mph when it struck a pole. After being treated at the scene, the students boarded another bus and continued their outng.

A bus carrying a group of middle school-age students on church outing was involved in a slow-speed accident today in Lake Forest, but only minor injuries were reported, authorities said.

The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Saddleback Church, at 1 Saddleback Parkway, as the bus was leaving for the outing, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.

The bus was carrying about four dozen people, including the driver, chaperones and students, when it hit a light pole, Concialdi said.

Some minor injuries were reported, but everyone was treated at the scene and all were planning to go on the five-day outing, said OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi.
