Pair of Repeat Offenders Arrested in Fremont Street Vehicle Theft
An observant victim noticed two men breaking into his car. The Irvine Police Department arrested two men shortly after the victim's tip.

IRVINE, CA โ The Irvine Police Department apprehended two suspects Tuesday, when an observant victim witnessed them breaking into his car on Fremont Street.
Repeat offenders Mohamad Jamal Elmasri, 19, and Omar Elnaggar, 22, both of Irvine were identified in the case. Elmasri was arrested on Tuesday following the theft on Fremont Street in Irvine. Elnaggar was detained a short time later.
"In the early morning hours of Oct. 11, a resident saw the suspects around his car, which was parked outside of his home," Irvine Police Department public information officers released over Facebook. "The resident went outside to confront the suspects. He was able to detain Elmasri until Irvine Police Officers arrived."

Elnaggar was able to flee the scene but was detained later that day after appearing in court on residential burglary charges. Both are now in custody.
Elnaggar and Elmasri have previously been arrested for residential burglary, theft from a vehicle and receiving stolen property, according to Irvine Police.
