Pregnant Woman Hospitalized in 5-Car Pileup on 5 Freeway

A 47-year-old has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in a pileup that jammed the morning commute on the 5 Freeway.

A five-car pileup blocked three lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway for more than an hour Thursday morning backing up traffic for miles near Bake Parkway.

Just before 6:30 a.m., the driver of an SUV lost control of his vehicle, colliding with several other cars.

The crash resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

There were no serious injuries, said a CHP dispatcher.

However, The Orange County Register is reporting that a pregnant woman involved the crash had to be taken to Mission Hospital as a precaution.
