Puppy Overdoses On Fentanyl, Revived With Narcan In OC: Report

Authorities found the eight-week-old pit bull in a Walmart parking lot after she apparently overdosed on fentanyl.

IRVINE, CA — A pit bull puppy was saved by Irvine Police officers after apparently overdosing on fentanyl, The Orange County Register reported.

The eight-week-old puppy was found Sept. 6 inside a car parked in a Walmart parking lot and "appeared lethargic" to authorities, the report said.

According to the report, the car held paraphernalia and narcotics, including an open container of fentanyl. The couple inside of the car — a 29-year-old San Juan Capistrano man and a 27-year-old Santa Ana Woman — were arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession, the report said.

The pup inside of the car was treated with Narcan after authorities suspected that the dog had ingested fentanyl. She has since fully recovered, the report said.
