Seniors Celebrate

Senior Awards Celebration Draws 100

The City celebrated our senior volunteers on Thursday. Since 2005 volunteers have supplied more than 10,000 hours of service to the Senior Scene. The Jim Sax Award went to Alberto Lopez. Also nominated were Barbara Deichmann, Shirley Maldonado, and Judith Rosario.

Alberto Lopez has 3 children and 4 grandchildren, which he tries to spend as much time with as possible. When he is not with his grandchildren, he can be found volunteering for Age Well Senior Services Meals on Wheels Program, fundraising for the Knights of Columbus and volunteering at the City of Lake Forest’s Senior Scene Clubhouse. At the Senior Scene Clubhouse, Alberto has volunteered as a greeter (for new participants), served food, called Bingo, and assisted staff with cleaning.

In attendance were nearly 100 seniors plus the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem, the City Manager, Directors of Planning, Public Works, and Community Services, and members of the Parks and Recreation Commission.
