Summer Parenting Series at South Orange County Family Resource Center

The South Orange County Family Resource Center is hosting a 9-week parenting class for parents with children age 3 to 5 years old.

The Child Behavior Pathways program, formerly known as CUIDAR, is run by a multidisciplinary team of experts from both CHOC Children’s and UC Irvine who have expertise in early childhood behavior and learning issues. Child Behavior Pathways is an evidence-based parenting education program and has been offering prevention and early intervention services to Orange County families and providers since 2001.

Child Behavior Pathways evidence based curriculum is designed to help parents find effective solutions to common behavior challenges while getting to know other families in the community. The COPE (Community Parent Education) curriculum uses active, small-group discussions among parents to help them identify their goals and desired approaches to parenting. Group leaders foster discussions that help participants develop, practice, and strengthen the skills that will allow them to achieve their goals as effective parents.

Our developmentally tailored curricula include:

(parents/caregivers only)
  • Community Parent Education (COPE) is a 9-week series for parents of children ages 3-5, helping them effectively manage challenging behaviors and improve overall family functioning. By introducing various approaches to typical behaviors, parents set up their child’s success in school and adult lives. Classes are offered in English and Spanish. (parents/caregivers only)
  • Parent - Child Premium Service is an exciting new service that combines the benefits of the COPE parent education series with a social educational component for children ages 3-6. The weekly program provides parents with the opportunity to learn effective tools for improving challenging behaviors while their child attends a play-based social skills class. The fee for our Parent-Child Premium Service is $500 per family, which covers 2 adults and 1 child for the entire 9-week series.Scholarships are not currently available for this service.

At this time we are asking for $150 registration fee, which will cover 2 adults per family (and is a same price for a single parent). We also provide scholarships for any families who may be experiencing financial hardship. However, even if a family would have a hard time covering the remaining $20, we have secured additional funding that will allow us to serve any and all families in need, and will never turn away a family due to inability to pay.

We are also VERY excited to offer a new Summer Parenting Series this Summer in addition to our 9-week parenting classes. These classes will be offered in both English, right down the street at Pretend City Children’s Museum and Spanish, in the City of Anaheim. The Summer Parenting Series will be a FREE service offering stand-alone parent support topics/classes covering:
