Toll Road Pursuit Across Orange County

Tuesday, officers attempting to stop this driver instead took it to the toll roads in an attempt to evade authorities, cops said.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A driver California Highway Patrol officers and Irvine police on a chase across Orange County toll roads for about 30 minutes Tuesday before surrendering, officials said.

The pursuit started Tuesday afternoon when Irvine police attempted to pull over a vehicle linked to a welfare check request at Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway, said Kim Mohr of the Irvine Police Department.

The driver led police on a chase through the city, with one "minor collision" reported, and then on the 261 toll road northbound to the Riverside (91) Freeway, where the suspect stopped in the eastbound lanes just west of Green River Road and surrendered about an hour later, according to Mohr and the CHP.

The suspect was not immediately identified.
