SEPTEMBER

SENIOR ADVISORY GROUP – SEPT 9

The City’s Senior Advisory Board is committed to support and serve the senior citizen population in our community. The Board’s role is to serve in an advisory capacity to the Parks and Recreation Commission for the purpose of providing the Commission with information on all issues of importance to senior citizens. The public is free to come by at 10 am in the City Hall.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY – SEPT 9

The in-depth seminar provides residents with an opportunity to learn about the inner workings of city government while developing the next generation of civic leaders and volunteers. Registration is first come, first serve basis. Space is limited to the first 25 registrants. Stop by City Hall or contact Juan Esquivel at 461-3422 to sign up. Meetings begin Sept 9 and continue every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm for 8 weeks.

KIWANIS FUNDRAISER AT MIGUEL’S – SEPT 14/15

Miguel’s is located at 26592 Towne Centre Dr. Foothill Ranch. Bring the Coupon to Miguel’s Cucina anytime from 11:00am to 9:00pm & Miguel’s Will Donate 20% of Your Guest Check to the Kiwanis Club Foundation to help support The Boys and Girls Club and other worthy efforts.

COASTAL CLEAN-UP – SEPT 19

The City is seeking families, groups, individuals, organizations and others to participate in the 19th annual Inner-Coastal & Watershed Cleanup Day in El Toro Park, 23701 Los Alisos Blvd., from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 19. Information is available at www.coastkeeper.org/ccd or by contacting Devin Slaven at DSlaven@lakeforestca.gov or at 461-3480. Volunteers are required to complete a waiver form before taking part in the event. The event kicks off adjacent to the pedestrian bridge.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY GROUP – SEPT 22

Provide recommendations to the City Council regarding overall strategies and processes to improve long term traffic conditions throughout the City including how to provide future citizen participation. The public is welcome. Meetings are the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at City hall.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION – SEPT 28

Lake Forest is made better by the work of our volunteers. In organizations like Kiwanis, The Boys and Girls Club, The Parade Committee, and in HOAs and church groups, hundreds of Lake Forest residents work to help make the City a better place to live. Do you know someone who deserves recognition? Tell us in 250 words or less and include a photo, and we’ll feature them in the November issue of the City newsletter (The Leaflet).

OCTOBER

BREAST CANCER SOLUTIONS FUND RAISER AT JEWELRY BOX – OCT 1

The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest is hosting the 6th annual fabulous in-store event in support of Breast Cancer Solutions! Join us for an evening of delicious food, 15% off all purchases (excluding clearance items) and a chance to win a beautiful diamond! BCS will receive 10% of all purchases plus 100% of proceeds from the sale of breast cancer awareness watches.

GRAND OPENING – TUTOR DOCTOR – OCT 6

This is a grand opening celebration for Tutor Doctor on Tuesday, October 6 at 10 a.m. The ribbon cutting will take place at South County Outreach and will feature refreshments and a South County Outreach fundraiser. South County Outreach is located at 7 Whatney, Suite B, Irvine, CA

LIVE, WORK, PLAY – OCT 14

In 250 words or less, tell us how you live, work, and play in Lake Forest, submit up to 5 pictures along with the article, and you can be featured in the City’s newsletter (the Leaflet). Deadline is Oct 14.

SHOP AND DINE LAKE FOREST – NOV 1

The 5th Annual Shop & Dine Lake Forest Week is November 1-8! The Coupon Submittal Form is now live and you can submit your special offer to be featured in the Shop & Dine Week Coupon Booklet, mailed to approximately 30,000 Lake Forest addresses.

TASTE OF LAKE FOREST – NOV 8

This year the 4th annual Taste of Lake Forest will take place on Sunday, November 8 from 12 to 4 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for Lake Forest restaurants to promote their unique cuisine to the local and surrounding communities. Last year more than 2,000 people came by and voted for their favorite restaurant.

Dr. Jim Gardner is on the City Council for Lake Forest. You can check him out on LinkedIn and/or Facebook and you can share your thoughts about the City at Lake Forest Town Square on Facebook. His comments are not meant to reflect official City Policy.

Dr. Gardner has office hours every Tuesday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the City Hall. In addition, he holds a town hall meeting every quarter. The next meeting will be on December 12 at 2 pm at the El Toro Public Library.
