LEADERSHIP ACADEMY – SEPT 16
The in-depth seminar provides residents with an opportunity to learn about the inner workings of city government while developing the next generation of civic leaders and volunteers. Registration is first come, first serve basis. There is still space. Stop by City Hall or contact Juan Esquivel at 949 461-3422 to sign up. Meetings continue every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm for 8 weeks.
COASTAL CLEAN-UP – SEPT 19
The City is seeking families, groups, individuals, organizations and others to participate in the 19th annual Inner-Coastal & Watershed Cleanup Day in El Toro Park, 23701 Los Alisos Blvd., from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 19. Information is available at www.coastkeeper.org/ccd or by contacting Devin Slaven at DSlaven@lakeforestca.gov or at 461-3480. Volunteers are required to complete a waiver form before taking part in the event. The event kicks off adjacent to the pedestrian bridge.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY GROUP – SEPT 22
Provide recommendations to the City Council regarding overall strategies and processes to improve long term traffic conditions throughout the City including how to provide future citizen participation. The public is welcome. Meetings are the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at City Hall.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE – SEPT 23
Forget everything you know about chambers of commerce - the Lake Forest Chamber is open for business and they’re changing the rules about what a chamber can do for you. They are providing the opportunity for businesses to work together in conjunction with the city to develop, enhance, and promote a well-defined sense of community. Their next mixer is at 5:30 at Outback Steakhouse in Foothill Ranch.
MODJESKA PLAYHOUSE – “GODS OF CARNAGE” – SEPT 24
Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, the hilarious God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza, finds two sets of Brooklyn parents meeting to resolve the matter of a playground altercation between their eleven-year-old boys. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION – SEPT 28
Lake Forest is made better by the work of our volunteers. In organizations like Kiwanis, The Boys and Girls Club, The Parade Committee, and in HOAs and church groups, hundreds of Lake Forest residents work to help make the City a better place to live. TOUR DEL TORO – NOV 7
Community volunteers organize an annual Tour del Toro event to raise funds to support Boys and Girls Club programs in Lake Forest. Tour del Toro 2015 is slated to feature a fun run, bicycle ride, vendor booths, and a “bicycle rodeo” for children provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. For more info, click here.
TASTE OF LAKE FOREST – NOV 8
This year the 4th annual Taste of Lake Forest will take place on Sunday, November 8 from 12 to 4 p.m. It’s a great opportunity for Lake Forest restaurants to promote their unique cuisine to the local and surrounding communities. Last year more than 2,000 people came by and voted for their favorite restaurant.
