Update on Civic Center

Plans moving forward

The planning workshop for the new Civic and Senior Center was held Thursday night and about 30 people were in attendance, including all members of the Parks and Recreation Commission as well as the Senior Advisory Board.

The entire plan was reviewed, from parking to landscape to the size of the bathrooms. Few major changes were suggested, but a lot of refinements were developed that will make the campus even more inviting. Some questions remain –

Should the senior center adopt the “Café model” which is being widely used?

Should we have two separate multi-purpose rooms, or will one bigger and better room be sufficient?

Should we keep the open area in the community center?

Shall we add more bathrooms in the Senior Center?

As the designers adopt the suggested refinements, the plans will come back to the City Council. At that point we will finalize the design.
