Village Pond Park Reducks

Here's what the Park looks like

Yesterday I gave you an update on what’s happening at Village Pond Park, although it would be more accurate to say what hasn’t happened –

  • · We don’t have a quantitative analysis for how well the ordinance is working.
  • · We don’t know how many fines have been given or how many postcards were distributed.
  • · We don’t know whether or not there are more or less wildlife since the ordinance was passed.
  • · We haven’t seen any plans for the re-model of the park.

What I can say is

  • · If you pull up in a car, dozens of geese and ducks will rush you, indicating that the unlawful feeding continues unabated.
  • · You can’t walk 20 feet without walking in poop.
  • · There were more than 100 Canada Geese on 3 occasions when I visited the park.
  • · The sidewalk around the pond is inundated with bird poop.
  • · The grass has disappeared in most places and when you walk you can actually kick up the dust.

I’ve asked the City Manager to move on this issue.
