Volunteer Appreciation

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day

The City celebrated the annual Leadership Appreciation with a breakfast ceremony. Dozens of volunteers in service to the City were present including members of STARS, the Parade Committee, Senior Advisory Committee, and the Commissions. From the Council, Mayor Voigts, Mayor Pro Tem Basile, and I were there. Former Council members Helen Wilson, Mark Tettemer, and Dave Bass were there, along with OC Sheriff Hutchins, Under Sheriff Don Barnes (a Lake Forest resident), and new SVUSD Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Turner.

Unfortunately this years' ceremony was very much like previous years' with the City recognizing only those who are working directly with the City. That's a partial view of the importance of leadership in our City. We have dozens of people who contribute to our quality of life, working in HOAs, in religious groups, in non profit agencies, etc. Hopefully next year we'll have a greater representation that reflects our entire City.
