Here’s what’s coming up this week in Lake Forest. I’ve made some notes and there are also links where you can get more information.

MONDAY – May 11

The Parade Committee meets at 6 pm at the Sports & Rec Center.

TUESDAY – May 12

· Fundraiser for the City’s US Marine Support Committee (All day, Chili’s in FHR)

· Ribbon Cutting at new Sheriff Substation (10:30 am)

(Please note - The City has been announcing that this will occur on Wednesday and Tuesday, and sometimes both at once. As of 1 [pm on Monday we still can’t be sure what the accurate date is!)

· Councilman Gardner Office Hours (3 pm to 5 pm – City Hall)

· Special Council meeting to discuss the Budget (6 pm – City Hall)

WEDNESDAY - May 13

· Fundraiser for the City’s US Marine Support Committee (All day, Chili’s in FHR)

· Senior Advisory Group (10 am to 12 pm – City Hall) Has been cancelled.

· Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm – The Jewelry Box)

· Soroptimists International (6:00 pm – Lake 1 Clubhouse)

THURSDAY - May 14

Keep track of what the Planning Commission is doing at 7 pm at City Hall. This week they are handling an appeal from a store that wants to sell more beer and wine in the City.

FRIDAY May 15

· Kiwanis (7:15 am to 8:15 am – Mimi’s Café)

· Monthly meeting of Lake Forest Garden Club (9:30 am – Lake 1 Clubhouse)

· Ribbon Cutting, Subaru, (4 pm – Rockfield Blvd)

· Opening of “Secrets of a Soccer Mon” at Modjeska Playhouse (8 pm). Lake Forest has its own community theatre now. The last show (“39 Steps”) was terrific. Come by and support your community theatre.

SATURDAY May 16

· Passport Day at the City Clerk office in LAGUNA HILLS (10 am to 3 pm – City Hall)

· Aliso Creek Cleanup Day (9 to :11:30 am). Join other Lake Forest residents, community groups and City staff in removing litter from a portion of the Aliso Creek. We’ll supply the gloves, trash bags, volunteer shirt, snacks and beverages. You supply the energy! Meet at Cherry Avenue and Fernbank Street (south-west of Cherry Park). Park on Cherry.

· Town Hall Meeting with Councilman Gardner (2 pm to 4 pm, FHR Library). Come discuss what’s going on in the City.

SUNDAY - May 17

8th Annual Prelude (Concert) in the Park (5:00 pm to 7:30 pm – Sports & Rec Center). This year we will be featuring an art show in addition to the concert. El Toro High School students will entertain us. Pre-concert activities start at 3:30 pm. What a great family fun day. ~
