Woman,78, Killed in Christmas Crash in Lake Forest

The woman, whose family was driving behind her and witnessed the crash, was trapped in her vehicle.

A 78-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash in Lake Forest, authorities said today.

The crash was reported just after 7:15 p.m. Friday on El Toro Road at Glenmeadows Drive, said Orange County sheriff’s Lt. G. Inouye.

Patricia Hultin of Mission Viejo was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center where she died just after 8 p.m., according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

Her family was following her in another vehicle and witnessed the crash, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

Her side of the vehicle was so badly damaged that she was trapped and had to be extricated, he said.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, Inouye said. Each vehicle had only a driver inside.

The Major Accident Reconstruction Team was investigating to determine what caused the crash, he said. It’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
