Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation seeks volunteers to join childhood cancer fight during Lemonade Days

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is calling on volunteers nationwide to take a “stand” against childhood cancer during the 8th Annual Lemonade Days, June 10-12, 2011. With a goal of having an Alex’s Lemonade Stand in every state, the foundation is seeking volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of childhood cancer patients by hosting a lemonade stand on one of the three fundraising days.

Lemonade Days first began in 2004 when pediatric cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott announced that she wanted to raise $1 million for childhood cancer research through her lemonade stand. What followed was a national movement to help Alex reach her goal with volunteer-run Alex’s Lemonade Stands being held across the country. Though Alex passed away that summer, she did so knowing she had reached her goal with the help of others. Today, volunteers continue her legacy, including during Lemonade Days, when thousands of volunteers host stands over the course of three days in an effort to raise $1 million.

Held the weekend before Father's Day every June, Lemonade Days is a three day event open to all who want to participate by holding their own fundraising stands or events.  Past stands have been held by family members, co-workers, friends and kids of all ages.
