Brawley Earthquake Rattles Parts of San Diego County
The quake struck at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Brawley, CA — A 3.9-magnitude earthquake Tuesday afternoon near Brawley was felt in parts of San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, which struck at 2:55 p.m. about two miles from the desert city of Brawley in Imperial County, shook parts of eastern and southern San Diego County, the USGS reported.
The temblor struck about 60 miles southeast of Borrego Springs, where a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck earlier this month, rattling much of Southern California.

More than three dozen minor aftershocks have been recorded since Tuesday's quake struck. Most were minor but a few were magnitude 3.0 or higher. The epicenter of the earthquake was nine miles from Imperial, 13 miles from El Centro and 23 miles from Mexicali.
